Our first dinner and a demo with Jim Doyle was such a success that another is called for. My good friend and amazing Bonsai Artist Guy Guidry is visiting New England and has graciously agreed to come to Sanctuary for a day, Monday , Sept. 29th.
Guy is a very talented and knowledgeable artist and owner of Bonsai Northshore, an inspiring nursery worth the visit if you find yourself in the New Orleans area. A student of Vaughn Banting, he knows horticulture and design. Those who know me well know I lean on Guy for my answers and inspiration. He sketches future trees in beautiful detail when given the time.
There will be a BYOT afternoon workshop.
Up to 10 folks can work with Guy with me assisting from 12:30 to 5. Bring your toughest trees or your trees that are great but still need refinement.
The fee will vary upon attendance. Worst case $70, minimum 6 participants. Best case, $42 maximum 10.
Trust me that Guy can handle a larger group than average.
There will be a Meet and Greet and a Dinner
The meet and greet will commence at 5:30. Wine, beer, and soft drinks will be included.
The dinner will serve at 6:15. We're planning barbequed chicken with Fall vegetables to compliment. As with the last D&D, there will be plenty of food, and good food.
Anyone thinking food coma? Dinner and a Demo $55.
There will be a demonstration.
At 7:15 Guy will work on whatever he's chosen from the Sanctuary pre-bonsai stock. He's always animated and full of horticultural knowledge. A great educator with always cutting edges to his take on Bonsai. The event will end when Guy is finished and the tree is auctioned. I will assist to keep it as early a night as possible. I know late Mondays are a tough way to start the work week but Guy is worth the effort.
This is a rain or shine event.
